Text formatting

Coverjig offers multiple ways to customize your text to achieve the perfect look for your book cover.

Adjust in the menu

Click the text on your front cover to reveal the Text Formatting menu, where you can adjust:

  • Fonts – Choose from a selection of fonts (150+ options available).
  • Font Effects – Apply effects such as 3D, patterned text, and more.
  • Font Size – Adjust the text size to fit your design.
  • Text Alignment – Align text left, center, or right.
  • Text Style – Apply styling such as bold, italic, or underline to your text.
  • Text Casing – Change between uppercase, lowercase, and title case.
  • Text Color – Select a color that complements your design.
  • Text Background Color – Add a background color behind the text (useful for increasing contrast between cover image and text).
  • Layer Positioning – Adjust the depth of text layers, useful for overlapping text and images.

Adjust directly on the cover

Click the text on your front cover to reveal a selection box with sizing handles, where you can adjust:

  • Line Height – Drag the top or bottom handles to adjust spacing between lines.
  • Text Box Width – Drag the left or right handles to make the text box wider or narrower. When the box is narrower, the text will wrap automatically.
  • Text Position – Drag the text box to reposition it. You can move it up or down, and horizontally if the text box is narrower than the cover width.

Adding subtitles

Beyond the title and author name, you can add extra text elements, such as subtitles or taglines.

  1. Click theText tab.
  2. Select Add Subtitle. A new subtitle will be added to your cover.
  3. To remove a subtitle, click theicon next to it.

Once added, subtitles can be styled the same way as other text — just click on the text as it appears on the front cover to access the formatting options.

Front cover overlay

You may want to add a color overlay to your cover image. This is particularly useful if you want to increase the contrast between cover image and text.

To apply an overlay:

  1. Click theCover tab.
  2. Use the Overlay Opacity slider to adjust transparency.
  3. Change the overlay color by clicking the Overlay Color button.

Note: Overlays can also be applied to the back cover and spine.
